26 Weeks Pregnant

This week baby girl has been busy putting on that "baby fat". She is almost 2 pounds and measures about 14 inches - about the size of a hothouse cucumber. She is preparing her lungs for outside the womb by inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid. These practice-breathing-movements will help her prepare to take that first gulp of air and of course, let out her first, precious little cry!

Growth: This week my belly is measuring 40.5 inches (only up half an inch in 2 weeks) and I have gained a total of 9 pounds - most of which happened in the last 2 weeks. Like I said last time...it's all in my face.
Movement: I had a little bit of a scare this week. Rosie had little movement for 4 days. She went from having kicking sessions lasting up to 20 minutes with hard kicks that rolled my belly...to nothing. I didn't worry too much at first. I figured it was her sleepy day. But by day 4 I started to get anxious. My doctor sent me to the hospital to check things out and have a stress test. Well as it turns out, baby girl was Frank Breech with her back turned towards my belly button. She was boxing with my insides (no wonder my back hurt!). The Dr was able to flip her and get her out of the breech position and they monitored her for a few hours. Her heart rate evened out and - hooray! She started kicking like crazy again! I go for a follow up appointment tomorrow :)
New Symptoms: Oh no! My hands and feet are starting to swell! I can't even imagine drinking more water than I already do. I guess I'll be taking trips to the ladies room every 10 minutes instead of 20. Oh and did I mention I gained 7 pounds in the last 2 weeks?? I officially had to start wearing maternity pants to work...and everywhere else.
Cravings: Teddy Grahms! Why weren't they a staple in our household before? Well, they are now! Apples, cheese, and Captain Crunch (without the crunch berries) have also been added to the craving list.
