Let’s catch up!
As much as I expected it to, this pregnancy has NOT been
too eventful. Like I explained in my last post, I had just experienced a
miscarriage not long before finding out I was pregnant again. The beginning of
this pregnancy I was (shamefully) not very hopeful. Every pain, every cramp,
every twinge I thought, “This is it. I’m going to miscarry.”
Luckily I have a very supportive husband who is always pushing me to be
optimistic and keeping me calm and at peace.
And then there was the ever-reassuring morning NO – all day
sickness! All my symptoms in fact, seemed to be raging at an all-time
high. The fatigue, breast tenderness, food cravings! All of it. A blessing and
a curse. The curse was obviously having to experience all that. The blessing
was knowing that as long as I continued to experience these things, I knew my
body was still doing what it needed to support our growing baby and
that made it all worth it.
Up until 12 weeks, we were living in Wisconsin. We would
soon be making the long trek to Utah to move closer to family and
work/schooling opportunities. Packing and moving while having morning sickness
is NOT fun. I wouldn’t recommend it. But when the time came to drive the
distance, I was blessed to feel an ease in my sickness just long enough to make
it to our new home.
Soon after settling into our new home I made an appointment
with my new doctor. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a new OB, but I was
excited to see what progress we were making. I was not expecting to get an
ultrasound, especially at the first appointment. But to my surprise, we walked
into the exam room and there was an ultrasound machine. The nurse didn’t say
anything about an ultrasound, but my husband Tyler and I looked at each other
in excitement. “Maybe!” I mouthed. Our appointment went well with my new dr. We
like him! Then at the end of the appointment he said, “Well let’s take a look
at baby.”
Eeeeek!
OK!
Not
only was I not expecting to get an ultrasound, I was NOT expecting to find out
that I was carrying a baby GIRL!
They can really find out at 12 weeks what sex the baby is? I have a friend out here who had the same thing happen! So awesome! It has always been 16 weeks + for me.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!
Well I should clarify I was 14 weeks when we found out. But the dr said it wouldn't be entirely accurate until around 20 weeks. So we didn't get our hopes too high!
